Crosslines

About

Crosslines is a small, independent index of hotels that commit to an idea. It covers four kinds only: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels.

Why these four

Each category describes a hotel built around something specific. In an art hotel it is the work on the walls and the way rooms were designed. A capsule hotel strips sleep down to a pod and puts everything else in shared space. Casino hotels combine rooms with restaurants, stages and a gaming floor. Ice hotels are made from frozen water and rebuilt by season.

Keeping the scope this narrow lets every entry stay short and comparable. The coloured lines on the home page are simply a way of drawing that structure — one colour for each category, one marker for each hotel.

How entries are written

Each hotel gets two short paragraphs and a handful of plain facts. We describe what is there: the building, the setting, the kind of stay it offers. Where a property has a limit worth knowing — shared sleeping halls, separate floors for men and women, a residential location — we say so.

You will not find star ratings, scores, reviews or prices. Those change quickly and depend on taste; descriptions age better.

Independence

No hotel pays to appear, and none has seen its entry before publication. We are not a travel agent and cannot make or change reservations. If a hotel catches your interest, contact it directly or use a booking service you trust.

Corrections

Hotels close, rename and renovate. If something here is out of date, the contact page explains how to tell us.
